Q. Are the products made by Advance Physician Formulas supplement company approved by the FDA?
A. Manufacturers do not need to register their products with the FDA nor get FDA approval before producing or selling dietary supplements. Manufacturers must make sure that product label information is truthful and not misleading.
Q. Are all the products made by your company made in the USA?
A. Yes, all of the products with the Advance Physician Formulas label are made in the USA -- in California and Arizona.
Q. Why do some of your product pages have wording that says: "This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease"?
A. This statement or "disclaimer" is required by law when a manufacturer makes a structure / function claim on a dietary supplement label. In general, these claims describe the role of a nutrient or dietary ingredient intended to affect the structure or function of the body. The manufacturer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and truthfulness of these claims; they are not approved by FDA. For this reason, the law says that if a dietary supplement label includes such a claim, it must state in a "disclaimer" that FDA has not evaluated this claim. The disclaimer must also state that this product is not intended to "diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease," because only a drug can legally make such a claim.
Q. I just found your web site. It is refreshing to see an honest, apparently medically sound descriptions of the products offered in the spam type emails I receive. Your information of supplements are very appealing. I would like to order but would like for you to recommend a program for me to try. I am a 72 year old diabetic with diabetic neuropathy and am impotent, My MD has cleared me to try herbal products. Please send me the recommendation requested above.

Q. Do you offer any herbs or products that can safely be taken by persons who are on other medications or prescription drugs?
A. This is too broad a question. Every herb or supplement has a potential side effect, much less than prescription drugs but nevertheless it would be naive to think that natural supplements have no adverse effects. Each herb and supplement has to be learned and understood on its own and how it interacts with medicines. It is much more complicated that giving a simple answer.
