Grape seed extract is a Dietary Supplement becoming more popular.

What's in it, composition
Each capsule of this grape seed extract supplement provides 95 mg of potent polyphenols.

Grape seed extracts have compounds called procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs). Other sources of PCOs are berries, green and black teas, and red wine.

Benefit and review
PCOs are powerful antioxidants, perhaps much more active than vitamins C and E. They also inhibit a number of enzymes that degrade connective tissue such as elastase, collagenase, and hyaluronidase. This grape seed extract is of extremely high quality full of potent antioxidants called polyphenols which include anthocyanins, procyanidins and related beneficial compounds. Grape seed extract is a natural plant product made from the grape seed (or pip), rich in procyanidins, a special class of water-soluble bioflavonoids. *

For joint health in aging males and females
Grape seed extract is now found in a very popular joint health formula called Joint Power Rx, formulated by Dr. Ray Sahelian, M.D.

Libido or sexual enhancement
Some studies claim that grape seed extract has aphrodisiac properties. A more potent supplement for sexual enhancement is Passion Rx with Yohimbe which usually works within 2 to 3 days.

In addition to grape seed extract supplements
We carry several popular all natural products formulated by a medical and nutrition scientist, Dr. Ray Sahelian, M.D. These include Diet Rx which safely and effectively reduces your appetite without stimulants so you eat less; MultiVit Rx for more energy and vitality; Mind Power Rx for better mood, focus, alertness, mental stamina, and concentration; Eyesight Rx for better day and night vision, often within days; Prostate Power Rx for a healthy prostate gland.

Grape seed extract product for long term use
Q. Have there been any studies with grape seed extract supplements in humans that people have taken for several years to see what benefits occur or what type of grape seed extract side effects can occur?
   A. We are not aware of long term, human research. As with most herbs and natural products that have not had long term trials, it is best to take breaks from use, for instance one week a month. Grape seed extract supplements appear to be safe, but just to be cautious it is a good idea to take a few days off each month.

Antioxidant benefit compared to other plant extracts
Q. Which is more potent as an antioxidant, grape seed extract, mangosteen, goji berry, acai berry, carnosine, acetyl l-carnitine, pomegranate extract or cacao extract?
A. Instead of focusing on comparing the antioxidant benefits of different supplements, we prefer people alternate their use rather than relying on one particular supplement. All the herbs and nutrients you mention are healthy additions to one's supplement program, but taking them all together may not necessarily be healthy. You can take 2 or 3 a day and alternate their use.

Grape seed extract side effects, safety
Thus far we have not had any reports of grape seed extract side effects mentioned in the medical literature.
