L Arginine Side Effects
No major l arginine side effects have yet been reported with the short term use of l arginine. The benefits and risks of long term arginine use are not fully known. It is possible that one side effect of high dosage l arginine is nausea. Other possible l arginine side effects on very high dosages are digestive disturbances. It is not clear whether l arginine has side effects if used in high dosages daily for many months or years. We suggest taking breaks from the use of this supplement and limiting daily dosage to 4 grams or less unless monitored by a doctor.

L Arginine supplement questions
Q. There are so many forms of l arginine. In one magazine i came across ads for the following arginine products: L-Arginine Alpha Keto Glutarate, L-Arginine L/DL-Malate, L-Arginine Base or Mono HCl. Which form of arginine is better?
    A. There are hardly any human studies available with the various form of L arginine that it is very difficult to make any recommendations regarding the use of these l arginine supplements and to know which l arginine product is best to use.

 Q. Should arginine pills be taken with meals or on an empty stomach?
    A. Arginine pills are probably better absorbed when taken on an empty stomach.
 
 Q. Can I take arginine pills regularly for many months and years?
    A. As with most nutrients, we recommend taking breaks from use. In the case of arginine pills, it appears to be safe to take for extended periods as long as the dose is less than 3 or 4 grams a day.

Q. Is l arginine better to take as a capsule or powder?
    A. It depends on how much you plan to take. If your l arginine dose is less than 2 grams, the capsule works. If you plan to take a high arginine dose of several grams, then the arginine powder is more efficient.

Q. Can l arginine and glutamine amino acids be taken together?
   A. We don't see any obvious side effects that would occur if glutamine and arginine amino acids were taken together.

Q. I take Passion Rx for sexual drive enhancement. Are there potential additional arginine side effects if combined? What would be the maximum arginine dosage to use with a sexual herbal formula?
   A. As long as your arginine dosage is less than 2 grams, it should not interfere with Passion Rx or cause additional side effects.

Q. Is an arginine supplement effective for erectile dysfunction?
   A. We don't think that arginine, by itself, is an effective supplement for erectile dysfunction.
