Alpha lipoic acid is a Dietary Supplement and a natural antioxidant supplement. We suggest you not buy alpha lipoic acid 300 mg or 600 mg due to potential side effects. Many people think the higher dosage they take the healthier they will be, but this is not necessarily the case. One capsule every other day works well for many people.

Q. Regarding alpha lipoic acid dmae supplements. Are there any dangers combining alpha lipoic acid and dmae supplements?
   A. It all depends on the dosage. If low dosages are used of each, there should be no concerns. However if high dosages of an alpha lipoic acid dmae supplement is used, there could be overstimulation, rapid heart beat, and restlessness.

Q. What is the source of alpha lipoic acid supplements?
   A. Alpha lipoic acid is made synthecially even though small amounts are found in some foods. It is too expensive and impractical to extract lipoic acid from foods to make supplements.

Q. Is 300mg of R alpha lipoic the same as 600 mg (not labled as R)? Assuming the unlabled is a combination of R and S, what is the point of taking  the unlabled alpha lipoic acid if only half effective?
   A. We don't see any reason to take an alpha lipoic acid supplement that has both the R and the S forms since half of it is not likely to be utilized by the body. The only advantage we can see in taking the combinatin R and S forms is that the raw material for the combination is several fold cheaper. 

Q. What is the reason for making regular alpha lipoic acid since only the R form is of any use, while the S form is of no Value, In other words Why isn't only the R alpha lipoic acid on the market.?
   A. The R alpha lipoic acid raw material cost is several times that of the regular alpha lipoic acid and some people think it is cheaper for them to buy 100 mg of regular alpha lipoic acid than 50 mg of R alpha lipoic acid. Others are not convinced yet that the S form has no value. But mostly people are not aware that half of the regular alpha lipoic acid they purchase has no benefit.

Alpha lipoic acid 300 mg side effects include rapid heart beat with potential heart rhythm problems and heart palpitations. We do not suggest you buy alpha lipoic acid 300 mg pills and especially not the 400 mg and the 600 mg pills.
